About Sander Hupkes
As an abstract painter based in Apeldoorn, I have been inspired by art and culture since I was young. My artistic journey as a painter began in 2012 when I met artist and now good friend Frans Polman. For several years I shared a studio with Frans, where he worked as an artist and I as a graphic designer. During this period I discovered my true passion: painting.
Another great passion of mine is traveling. During my travels I find inspiration in the peace, colors and textures of different landscapes and seascapes. I translate these experiences into my work, where I strive to capture the colors, the natural rhythm and the peace of nature in my paintings.
Since May 2024 I have left my busy life in the marketing world behind me to follow my heart as a full-time visual artist. With a focus on 'slow life abstract art' I now follow the natural flow of life and inspiration. Are you interested in seeing my work up close? Then visit my studio by making an appointment.

Artist Statement
My art is deeply influenced by the idea of living in harmony with the natural flow of life. After years of working in marketing and graphic design, I chose to follow my true passion for painting, embracing a slower, more intentional lifestyle and live with my own creative rhythm. This transition has allowed me to focus on Slow Life Abstract Art, where I create from a place of inner peace, allowing my creativity to evolve at its own natural rhythm.
Nature is my constant source of inspiration. The ever-changing tides of the sea, the beauty of untouched landscapes, and the vast expanse of the sky all play significant roles in shaping my work. Each artwork captures the subtle interplay between movement, color, and texture—inviting the viewer to slow down, breathe, and connect with the natural world.
I work primarily with acrylics and mixed media, using layered textures to evoke the fluidity and depth found in nature. My process is intuitive and flows with the creative rhythms I experience in life—sometimes slow and reflective, other times more dynamic and spontaneous. Through my art, I seek to create a space for contemplation, encouraging others to embrace a slower pace and appreciate the beauty of the present moment.
